These are technically my third favorite paid hot springs. The others are Harbin and Sierra Hot Springs, both in California. I soaked late into the night. Nobody else around. The big main pools run at 97 degrees, the hottest at 108, the coldest at 60. Dim lighting, bright stars, almost no one around. It feels like heaven being here, especially in the middle of the night. The sauna at midnight is its own thing. No electronics allowed in the soaking areas, which meant no photos, which was probably fine.
I have a sense of being on vacation, or that this is the equivalent of a weekend for this lifestyle. Going from pool to pool in the dark, it feels like it doesn't get any better than this at any price.
Today is the day I finally make it to Telluride. Packages waiting there for nearly six weeks. I'm looking forward to seeing my friends. Shannon is heading up to Montrose for a night to run some city errands. We'll connect back up tomorrow and see what's next. Hopefully a nice place to leave it in park for a while.
Supplies are holding up well. I picked up two more pounds of that fancy ground chuck from Ouray. Apparently the beef comes from Monument, Colorado. Best beef I've ever had. Running a little low on water, about six gallons left, but everything else is fine. The weather is perfect. Colorado is feeling like the right place to be right now. Loving all the water after so long in the desert.
The spot where I'm camped has something I've never encountered before: a wooden platform designed for tent camping that sits at exactly the height of my step when I walk out the van door. I pulled up alongside it and suddenly I have a deck. It works perfectly and has planted an idea I'll stow away for sometime way in the future.
I posted the YouTube video of The #1 Worst Thing about Van Life. It didn't seem to get shown to many people. I know that's how it'll be for a while as the algorithm figures out what to do with my content. That's not my job. My job is to keep on.
Last night soaking in the pools I realized the silly song segments from that video will make good short form clips. I'll cut those up today. Grateful for the soaking but eager to get back in my zone. There's a strong pull. I often think about the role momentum plays in our lives. You could make the case that life is a momentum game. I'm feeling some right now. Let's see where we can take this.
